- First of all, shippers do not “erase” anything by having ships that differ from canon. It’s not like they arrive at the studio and hold a gun to producer’s head to never show ship episodes ever again or change them to the ship they like. You can still enjoy your canon.

- Same goes for character’s sexuality. Fandom is a playground but it’s not stoping you from enjoying canon.

- However sometimes people say extremely rude shit to defend/justify their ship preferences. “it’s straight relationship”, “bihet” is fucking biphobic; “just confused”, “found the right person” is a homophobic mantra. Can we just enjoy our stupid cartoon ships without having to use rhetorics that hurt irl people everyday?

this feels so fucking silly to say out loud but I genuinely think we're kind of negatively skewing body expectations for people w/ penises to the kind of ludicrous degree that its inevitably gonna cause mental health issues and complexes and dysphoria, particularly for trans/nb people. Big dicks are dope as hell but calling normal cocks small for being under like 6" and making fun of someone for that is fucking stupid considering the global average is between 4.5"-5.1". Youre gonna make some nice lovely young fag who hasnt had an in-person penis experience yet spiral and become obsessed and buy alt-med dick pills or dick extension surgery or some shit. I dont know how many of the people I've had a hook up with/dated that apologized repeatedly during sex because they were worried they weren't "normal" down there or bottomed out of shame. We're turning so many potential tops into bottoms with this madness

How terrible!

How can you be so heartless? If they don't get those hidden billions, how else will they give themselves undeserved pay raises so they can buy more child prostitutes?

Did a far longer write up on this, it's in the notes probably, but I'll do the short version here.

The stupidly wealthy have their income scrutinized regularly, this is not something they could get away with on any kind of even medium scale.

The people that aren't reporting are folks that do delivery and get cash tips, or anything that can have a payment of cash for it like house sitting, landscaping (small scale), handyman stuff, pet walking.

You know, things that the stupid rich people pay others to do.

You're not sticking it to bloomberg, bezos, gates, and musk with this shit you're sticking it to the dude driving for uber eats that gets an occasional 5 or 10 as a tip instead of the tip showing on the app.

Can't believe how many young folks writing has been destroyed by those dumbfuck "use synonyms and fancy words, otherwise your writing is boring." Especially since they often use the completely wrong "fancy"/synonym for the original word. I swear, a sentence that could have been "He enjoyed walking through the park with his friends." becomes shit like "The brunette experienced muted euphoria when gallivanting through the communes local green-area, in a group with his acolytes."

theliterarywolf answered:

Yeah, unfortunately ‘said is dead’ is still being pushed in a lot of literary circles and ELA classrooms.

You would not believe how many times I hear other English teachers, during our weekly department meets, talking about how they have to call out students to ask them to define certain words that they shoved into their writing because they thought it would be a fancier way of stating something simple.

But, yeah, even I had to unlearn that advice once I decided to approach writing outside of the fandom-space.

Gonna add in a piece of argument. The reason modern Disney sucks at classical fairy tale stories, where the old cartoon versions succeeded, is because they more or less accepted the folklore, fairy tale, legends, children's story aspects of them and kept within those simple parameters of these kinds of stories. Modern Disney tries to do TOO MUCH with these stories, completely burying what actually made them interesting to begin with, especially the adaptions they did.

theliterarywolf answered:

It’s because, in the midst of all of these remakes being a hellish combination of ‘I like money!’ and 'we have to keep expanding copyright!’, the people they get to direct these remakes always go into it with the notion of 'showing something off’ rather than considering what made people like the original stories/original Disney films in the first place.

Look at the guy who directed “live-action” Lion King and how he was more hyper-focused on 'realistic CGI animals’ and presenting a 'documentary-style’ than he was in telling a story.

Look at “live-action” BatB, where the people behind it were more hyper-focused on presenting a fresh, 'empowering’ story and also making LeFou a sympathetic character –

Which, I was just informed a few days ago that, thanks to that nonsensical element in the “live-action” adaptation, Disney went ahead and created a new version of the original animated film that shows that LeFou always hated Gaston and that he was the one to make Belle’s famous dress and also that he was in the castle when the mob came (which makes NO FUCKING SENSE because in the original movie, we SAW LeFou IN THE CROWD)

– Look at live-action Aladdin where the people behind it decided that the best way to give Jasmine more agency was to have her want to be Sultan and also introduce a strange foreign suitor subplot.

Look at live-action Mulan and… just everything that went down with live-action Mulan.

It’s an interesting mirror to the current issue of comic/video game/anime adaptations. As in: the people who are in charge of them clearly don’t want to adapt the stories of these things but, instead, want to prioritize their own original stories and ideas to the point that the adapted property suffers.

i mean this in a bad way these genuine “normalize/bring back etc” posts about regular stuff are so annoying i wish people would just do what they want without needing it to be in fashion or widely approved or part of a curated theme “normalize going to the bar alone bring back thin eyebrows normalize not having an aesthetic bring back low waisted jeans” like girl free yourself from these shackles

dykementality

the crazy part is its always the sort of people who claim to be weird that are completely obsessed with not standing out in any way that could be considered abnormal or untrendy
